- ALL STEEL, EVEN THE LID — Body AND friction-fit lid are genuine 304 (18/8) stainless steel. Food industry hygiene standards use 304 as their benchmark for food-contact metal. It is the costlier steel, and we use it for the lid too. No silicone gasket, no plastic clip, no seal to trap grime, no lid ridges to go mouldy. Independently lab-verified (EN 10088-1, 1.4301) — heavy metals Not Detected. Grade stamped into the lid and the base. Guaranteed for life against manufacturing defects.
- FORGOT TO DEFROST? STRAIGHT FROM THE FREEZER — Freeze a whole batch — curry, bolognese, chilli — flat in the 1.6L. Then lift the lid, set it on the hob (any type, including induction) or in the oven, start on a low heat, stir as it loosens, and bring the food right up to temperature before serving. Steel takes the freezer-to-heat jump — unlike glass, it never cracks or shatters. Freezer containers for batch cooking, minus the transfer to another pan.
- THE BATCH-COOKING SIZE — 1.6L true capacity, not a flattering nominal figure — a nominal label would say 1.8L. About three hearty servings: Sunday roast leftovers, a week's batch curry, or marinating overnight. Fits standard UK fridge shelves; same-size containers nest when empty, flat steel lids stack in one pile.
- CURRY TONIGHT, CLEAN TOMORROW — Non-porous steel will not absorb stains or odours the way plastic does. No tubs turned orange by bolognese, no box that never quite smells clean. Tomato, turmeric, curry — into the dishwasher and back to bare, bright steel.
- BEFORE YOU BUY — Not microwave safe: reheat on the hob or in the oven instead. The friction-fit steel lid has no watertight seal: sandwiches and solid food travel fine, but keep the container level when there's liquid inside. We tell you what it doesn't do because trust matters more than a sale.
Product brief
Built for the full food cycle.
The big jobs. From freezer to hob to oven to table — all steel, even the lid.
The 1.6L is the batch-cooking container: Sunday roast leftovers, a whole curry portioned for the week, marinating meat overnight. It lives in your fridge and freezer, always in rotation.
Every part is 304 (18/8) stainless steel — the body and the friction-fit lid. No silicone gasket. No plastic clip. No coating. No silicone or plastic where food touches, and no seal to trap grime.
The from-frozen rescue: freeze the whole batch flat in the container. Forgot to defrost? Lift the lid, set it straight on the hob (any type, including induction) or in the oven, start low, and bring the food right up to temperature. One vessel: store, freeze, reheat, serve.
Fits and stacks: at 22.4 cm long it fits standard UK fridge shelves, and at ~309 g with lid it is lighter than a glass dish of the same volume. Same-size 1.6L containers nest inside each other when empty; the flat steel lids stack. Rectangular shape packs freezer shelves efficiently.
Takes no stain, holds no smell: non-porous steel will not absorb stains or odours the way plastic does. Curry washes clean. Dishwasher safe.
What it doesn't do: not microwave safe — reheat on the hob or in the oven. The friction-fit lid has no watertight seal: solid food travels fine; keep the container level when there's liquid inside.
Independently verified: genuine AISI 304 (18/8) stainless steel, tested by an independent accredited laboratory for food-contact safety to UK-retained EC 1935/2004 — heavy metals Not Detected.
Specifications: 1.6L true capacity — a nominal label would say 1.8L (about three hearty servings) | 22.4 x 15 x 8 cm (lid 23 x 16 x 1 cm) | ~309 g with lid | 304 (18/8) stainless steel | EC 1935/2004 food-contact compliant
At end of life, zero waste: the container is one material — steel recycles back into steel, nothing to disassemble, no downcycling. That loop is in the brand name: Loopware.
